Tips to remember while planning a Ulcer Diet

I had earlier discussed about what Peptic Ulcer is and what symptoms one should look out for diagnosing Peptic Ulcer. Supposedly you really found few of your symptoms to be just the ones I mentioned earlier. And you took your doctor's advice and it was YES. you do have Peptic Ulcer. So Now What?

First of all, there's nothing to worry about and one can always get hold of it if you plan your diet systematically. So in this post lets discuss about the points that one should remember while planning a diet for Peptic Ulcer Patients. Here are few points:

- Switch to small meals other than eating two large meals a day. 

- Include food items in your diet which are rich in fiber. Eg: Fruits and vegetables.

- Eat your meals slowly. (Don't rush them)

- Avoid Fried foods.

- Even shallow fried foods is a no-no. So that means no paratha, no dosas, no fried fish

- Eat your dinner at least 2 hours before bedtime.

- Avoid Spicy foods

- Have mild and light meals.

- No caffeinated drinks. That means no coffee, tea, cold drinks etc etc

- Try and avoid sour fruits like oranges, lemons, all citrus fruits.

- No chocolates

- Don't overdo your milk and soda intakes. Keep them in limits.

- No tamarind in food

- No tomatoes in food

- Try and switch to low fat diet.

- Include small amounts of pre-biotic supplements. Research have shown that they are always beneficial.
