How to clean the expensive razais and daris at home

Proper care has to taken while cleaning expensive razais and daris at home. These handwoven carpets as well as bedsheets are specialties of places like Rajasthan especially Jaipur and Kashmir. To clean expensive razais and daris one can follow any one of the below mentioned instructions:

- In a bucketful of water, add two teaspoons of mild detergents. Soak the razai in this water for half an hour. Scrub gently and rinse two to three times in water of normal room temperature. Squeeze gently and flat dry.

- In a bucketful of water add 50 ml of white petrol and soak the razai in it for half an hour. Rinse well with plain water.

- Add mild reetha powder (available in all grocery stores) l of in a bucketful of warm water. Soak razai for half an hour in this and wash thoroughly.

- Add half teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of vinegar and 2 tbsps of mild detergents in a bucketful of water. Soak the razai in this water and wash thoroughly. Pat dry the razai by spreading it on the floor.

- Spread the razai on a plastic cot. With a hose wet the razai and rub the soap over it. Gently scrub the razai and then wash it off with the hose. Press the razai gently to remove out excess water. Let it dry out on the cot itself in the sun.
