1. Always carry enough water when you plan to climb high
altitude. Drinking water helps in replacement of body fluids and thus may help
in heavy breathing. However one shouldn’t drink too much water if any of the symptoms of altitude sickness exist, as that can be too dangerous.
2. Expert's advice helps. If you have ever experienced any of the altitude sickness
before in your earlier trip and yet planning for another trip, it is advisable
to get an expert’s advice. This however depends on how extreme sickness you
experienced earlier.
3. Visit your doctor. If you suffer from any respiratory ailments such as asthma
or any other, it is advisable to get doctor’s opinion before planning a trip.
Your doctor may provide you with some helpful tips as well as medications
during such emergencies.
4. Exercise and prepare yourself. Performing light exercises or yoga before climbing high
altitudes prepares one for the same.
