Chicken Yakhani Recipe

Chicken Yakhani is a typical Indian recipe cooked in Kashmiri style. Chicken means Murg, and Yakhani means Curd, i.e.Chicken cooked in curd along with other flavors. Try this amazingly simple yet tasty recipe.

Ingredients for Chicken Yakhani Recipe:
Chicken Yakhani


Chicken - 500 gms, cut into big pieces
Curd - 250 gms
Gram flour (besan) - 25 gm
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Saunf - 2 tsp, roasted and ground
Ginger paste- 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tspsalt, as per taste
Butter - 50 gm
Oil, as required

Method for Chicken Yakhani Recipe:

In a deep bottom pan, fry the chicken pieces in hot oil. 

In a bowl, mix curd with gram flour into a smooth paste.

Heat butter in a pan and add the garam masala. Fry gently. Add the curd mixture and continue frying. Add ginger powder and sauf along with salt.

Add the chicken pieces and cook till done.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Tip: In stead of adding garam masala, try adding whole garam masala, i.e. whole spices like cardomom, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, pepper corn etc. Serve Chicken Yakhani with roti and sliced onions.
